Two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Galopin Des Champs retired

Galopin Des Champs, the ten-year-old trained by Willie Mullins and owned by Audrey Turley, has been retired following a distinguished career that included 12 Grade 1 victories. The horse won back-to-back Cheltenham Gold Cups in 2023 and 2024, as well as three Irish Gold Cups, and first made his mark at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival. His final race was a third-place finish in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown in February 2025, after which Mullins cited the horse's age and inability to compete at his previous level as reasons for retirement.
