Ulster kick off pre-season with victory against Edinburgh

Ulster Rugby began their pre-season campaign with a narrow 28-26 away victory against Edinburgh Rugby at Hive Stadium on 5th September 2026. The match, overseen by head coach Richie Murphy, featured first appearances in Ulster colours for several new players including Matthew Devine, Jamie Benson, Daniel Hawkshaw, and Chay Mullins. Hooker James McCormick scored the opening try in the 12th minute, converted by Jamie Benson, as Ulster held on despite early pressure from the home side.
