Union’s Cavan Sullivan youngest to win MLS player of month honor
Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan, aged 17 years and two days, was named MLS Player of the Month on Wednesday, becoming the youngest player ever to receive the honor, surpassing Orlando City's Daryl Dike who won it at 20 years and 98 days in August 2020. Sullivan dominated September with nine goal contributions — five assists and four goals — helping the Union go 5-0-0 for the month. His streak of eight consecutive matches with a goal or assist is the longest by a teenager in MLS history, and his 19 total goal contributions this season are tied for second most by a teenager in a single MLS season.
