US Open 2026: golf suspended due to poor visibility on day one โ live
The opening round of the 2026 US Open at Shinnecock Hills has been suspended due to poor visibility, with players returning to practice areas while awaiting an 8:00am ET update. Early starters managed only one or two holes before play was halted, with James Nicholas and Caleb Surratt leading after parring the first two holes. An eight-way tie at even par includes Jackson Suber and amateur Ethan Fang, who won the 130th Amateur Championship at Royal St George's in June 2025.
