US teenager Tate Taylor shocks Olympic champion, surpasses Usain Bolt on all-time U20 list
Eighteen-year-old American sprinter Tate Taylor won the men's 200 meters at the 2026 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on July 4, defeating reigning Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo and 2025 World Championship bronze medalist Bryan Levell. Taylor's winning time of 19.75 seconds, run into a headwind, broke his own US high school national record of 19.94 and moved him to third on the all-time U20 list, ahead of Usain Bolt's youth best of 19.93. Only Gout Gout and the suspended Erriyon Knighton have run faster among under-20 athletes.
