USA win first Wheelchair Rugby World Championship title in 16 years

The USA wheelchair rugby team claimed their first World Championship title in 16 years, defeating defending champions Australia 57-51 in the final held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 23 August 2026. Co-captains Sarah Adam and Chuck Aoki led the team, with Adam scoring the decisive final try with under 50 seconds remaining. Japan won the bronze medal by beating Great Britain 54-47, while the tournament featured 12 teams competing across 46 matches at the first-ever Wheelchair Rugby World Championship held in South America.
