Vallejo fined for sexist remarks about female referee at French Open
Paraguayan tennis player Adolfo Daniel Vallejo has been fined by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) after making sexist remarks about Brazilian referee Ana Carvalho following his second-round loss at the 2026 French Open on May 28. Vallejo suggested women lack the courage to umpire rowdy crowds after his five-hour defeat to French teenager Moise Kouame, who won 6-3 7-5 3-6 2-6 7-6 (10-8) on Court Suzanne Lenglen. The FFT announced the fine on May 30, 2026.
