Verstappen reveals cause of shock Monaco GP retirement

Max Verstappen retired from the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix on lap 1 after his Red Bull engine 'just dropped dead' at the start, forcing him to stall and swerve to avoid the chasing field. Verstappen had already experienced engine concerns during the formation lap, so the failure was not entirely unexpected. He had qualified strongly for the race, outpacing both Ferrari drivers before being beaten to pole by Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli.
