Verstappen Says F1 Engine Changes Could Influence His Future
Max Verstappen has indicated that proposed F1 engine regulation changes for 2027 would increase the likelihood of him remaining in the sport. The changes involve shifting the power split from the current near 50:50 ICE-to-electrical ratio under 2026 regulations to a 60:40 divide favoring combustion engines in 2027, though the agreement has not yet been formalized. Verstappen, who holds a Red Bull contract through 2028 with break clauses, called the proposed direction 'definitely very positive' but noted it was 'the minimum' he was hoping for, with further discussions expected at the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.
