Vuelta a Espana stage three abandoned because of hail

The third stage of the Vuelta a Espana was abandoned on Monday due to a severe hailstorm that struck riders in the French Pyrenees with 15km remaining of the 174km ride from Gruissan to Font-Romeu. The storm hit as riders climbed the Col de Mont-Louis, prompting overall leader Tadej Pogacar to signal the main group to leave the course. Organisers cancelled the stage citing the security of the riders, who took shelter in a nearby hotel.
