Vuelta a España: giant hail forces stage three abandonment in Pyrenees

The third stage of the 2024 Vuelta a España was abandoned on Monday due to a severe hailstorm in the French Pyrenees. With 15km remaining of the 174km stage from Gruissan to Font-Romeu, giant hailstones struck riders as they climbed the Col de Mont-Louis, forcing organisers to halt the race. Riders were seen taking shelter in a hotel along the route as conditions became too dangerous to continue.
