Wakefield Trinity defeated Leigh Leopards 26-16 in a Super League playoff eliminator to reach the semi-finals for the first time, with second-half tries from Vagana and Faatili proving decisive despite playing with 14 men after Emre Guler was sent off. The club, revitalised under owner Matt Ellis and head coach Daryl Powell, have risen from the Championship to within one win of their first-ever Super League Grand Final appearance in just three years.
