Alexandra Eala of the Philippines defeated four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka 6-4 6-2 at the Washington Open to advance to the final against world number three Jessica Pegula. The 21-year-old, who began the season outside the top 50, will rise to a career-high ranking of 24th following the victory. Eala has now recorded six wins over top-10 players this season, continuing an impressive run that included ending Iga Swiatek's Wimbledon title defense.
