WBA Approves Gassiev vs. Kadiru Heavyweight Title Fight

The WBA Championship Committee has officially approved a heavyweight title fight between champion Murat Gassiev and German challenger Serik Kadiru, after original contender Tony Yoka was forced to withdraw due to injury. Kadiru, who holds a WBA continental heavyweight title and a professional record of 23 wins, 1 loss, and 13 knockouts, was granted special authorization to step in as replacement, with the bout receiving official approval on July 8. Gassiev will be making the first defense of the heavyweight title he won on December 12 via knockout over Kubrat Pulev in Dubai.
