‘We want to play like other teams’: Afghan women’s cricket dreams remain undimmed

Benafsha Hashimi, an Afghan woman who fled the Taliban and moved to Australia in 2021, is campaigning for the ICC to recognise Afghanistan's exiled women's players as the official national side, similar to FIFA's decision to recognise exiled Afghan women footballers. Afghan women have been banned from playing cricket under Taliban rule, leaving a generation of players without a legitimate national team.
