Webb backs VAR over Botman challenge

Referees chief Howard Webb has defended VAR's decision not to upgrade Sven Botman's yellow card to a red following his tackle on Nicolas Jackson during Aston Villa's 1-0 win at Newcastle. Webb explained that VAR official Stuart Atwell correctly supported referee Jarred Gillett's on-field call, as Botman made no stud contact and caught Jackson with his trailing leg rather than an extended one. Speaking on Sky Sports' Match Officials Mic'd Up, Webb emphasized that VAR should only intervene when a decision is clearly wrong, not to re-referee on-field judgments.
