Welsh Rugby Union confirms Ospreys or Scarlets will become defunct

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has confirmed that either the Ospreys or the Scarlets will cease to exist as a professional club. The WRU is reducing its number of men's professional teams from four to three, with the change set to take effect from the 2028-29 season. The decision means one of the two Welsh regional rugby sides will become defunct as part of the restructuring.
