Wheelchair Tennis Player Kamiji Yui Seals Career Golden Slam at Wimbledon
Japanese wheelchair tennis player Kamiji Yui became the first Japanese woman to achieve a Career Golden Slam after defeating Diede de Groot of the Netherlands 6-0, 6-0 in the Wimbledon women's wheelchair singles final on July 11. The victory was her first Wimbledon title in her tenth attempt and her twelfth Grand Slam singles title overall, having previously won three Australian Opens, five French Opens, and three US Open titles. The Career Golden Slam combines all four major Grand Slam titles with a Paralympic gold medal, the latter of which Kamiji won at the Paris 2024 Games.
