Who is The Open champion Ryan Fox? Meet the New Zealander whose dad played for the All Blacks and was Shane Warne's 'great mate'
Ryan Fox, a 39-year-old New Zealander, won The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale by sinking an 11-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, becoming only the second Kiwi to lift the Claret Jug. Fox, whose father Grant played for the All Blacks and whose grandfather captained the New Zealand cricket team, claimed his first major title after his playing partner Sam Burns had already completed his round. An emotional Fox celebrated backstage by video-calling his wife Anneke, daughters Isobel and Margot, and his father, wiping away tears after the victory.
