Why a wet Canadian GP could be "the perfect storm" for F1
Pirelli tyre supplier representative Simone Berra has warned that a wet Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal could be 'the perfect storm' for Formula 1, as the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve's low-energy layout combined with cold ambient and track temperatures would make it extremely difficult for drivers to get intermediate or wet tyres into their operating window. This would also mark the first wet race for F1's new 2026 generation of cars, adding further uncertainty. The concerns contrast with the Miami Grand Prix, where warmer conditions would have made wet tyre management comparatively easier.
