Why did Scottie Scheffler defend his Presidents Cup opponent from a fan?

Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer, represented the United States in Sunday singles at the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club on September 27. He faced Colombian rookie Nico Echavarría, and during the match on the par-4 14th hole, Scheffler confronted a spectator who yelled during Echavarría's backswing. Scheffler also conceded his opponent's long putt in a show of sportsmanship during the match.
