Why McLaren felt the “real picture” was Miami GP qualifying and not its sprint pole and win
McLaren dominated the Miami GP sprint weekend with Lando Norris taking sprint pole and victory, while Oscar Piastri joined him in a 1-2 finish. However, in Miami GP qualifying, Norris could only manage fourth, 0.385 seconds behind polesitter Kimi Antonelli, with Piastri dropping to seventh. McLaren believes the qualifying session represented the true competitive order, suggesting rivals had underperformed during the sprint sessions and corrected their pace for the main race qualifying.
