Why Norris was expecting poor Monaco GP qualifying

Lando Norris qualified eighth at the Monaco Grand Prix, his worst qualifying position of the 2026 season so far, as his McLaren MCL40 suffers from a lack of front-end feel and electrical issues that required an overnight wiring harness replacement after FP2. Both Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri were consigned to the fourth row of the grid, finishing over half a second behind polesitter Andrea Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes. McLaren's struggles in 2026 are being compared to Sebastian Vettel's difficult 2014 championship defence.
