Why Yankees’ Cam Schlittler doesn’t plan to pitch in the All-Star Game

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler has decided not to pitch in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, informing the team of his decision Sunday morning before New York beat the Washington Nationals 5-3 at Nationals Park. Schlittler, who is healthy, explained that the All-Star Game falls on what would normally be his between-starts bullpen day, and he does not want to push himself to game-level effort with a lot of the regular season still remaining. He noted he will remain available if needed, as MLB rules require all All-Star roster players to be ready to play.
