Wilder-Opetaia to serve as co-main event on Fury-Joshua card

Deontay Wilder and Jai Opetaia have been confirmed as the co-main event on the December 11 card headlined by Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, with the event streaming live on Netflix. Wilder (45-4-1) is a former WBC heavyweight champion who held the belt from 2015 to 2020, while undefeated Opetaia (31-0) is a cruiserweight standout ranked No. 9 on ESPN's pound-for-pound list. Opetaia most recently stopped WBC champion Noel Mikaelian on September 12 in Las Vegas, though he did not claim the belt due to a sanctioning dispute.
