Wild’s Bill Guerin wins NHL GM of the year award after franchise-changing year of big swings
Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin has been named the NHL's GM of the year, receiving the Jim Gregory Award. The honor comes after a franchise-defining year highlighted by Guerin orchestrating a blockbuster trade to acquire Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks, a deal finalized in December when Canucks executive Jim Rutherford called Guerin at home. Guerin was surprised with the award at the Wild's pre-draft dinner in Wayzata, Minnesota, where his wife, kids, and mother presented him with the honor.
