Wimbledon qualifying 2026: Britain's Esther Adeshina wins first round

Britain's Esther Adeshina, ranked world number 514, defeated Japan's former top-50 player Moyuka Uchijima 6-1 3-6 7-5 in the first round of Wimbledon qualifying at Roehampton, in a match lasting almost two hours. The 24-year-old described the achievement as a 'dream' and called it the biggest win of her career. Adeshina now needs two more victories to secure a place in the Wimbledon main draw.
