Wimbledon quarter-finalist and US Open champion dies as heartbreaking tributes pour in
Australian tennis legend Mal Anderson MBE has died at the age of 91. Anderson won the 1957 US Open as the first unseeded player to claim the title, defeating three seeded opponents while dropping only two sets. He also reached two Wimbledon quarter-finals, finished runner-up at the Australian Open twice (1958 and 1972), and won two Major doubles titles, before being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000.
