Wirtz can improve if Liverpool drop him - Gerrard

Steven Gerrard has suggested that dropping Florian Wirtz from Liverpool's starting lineup could help the £116 million signing regain his confidence and form. The 23-year-old, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, has yet to score for Liverpool this season, though he registered his second assist in a 6-3 Champions League win over LASK on Thursday. Gerrard, speaking on The Overlap, noted that Wirtz has been giving away uncharacteristic simple passes, and drew on his own experience of benefiting from being temporarily dropped during periods of poor form.
