World and Olympic marathon champion Jepchirchir suspended after positive doping test

World and Olympic marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has been provisionally suspended after an out-of-competition doping test returned a positive result for EPO (erythropoietin). The Kenyan athlete, who won the Sydney Marathon in August, is one of the sport's most decorated distance runners. The suspension was announced following the failed test, though further details of the process and timeline are pending.
