World Athletics unveils innovations for inaugural Ultimate Championship

World Athletics has unveiled a range of innovations for the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, set to take place in Budapest from September 11-13. New features include augmented reality broadcast graphics, live win probabilities generated by an algorithm, athlete headshots, and a repositioned on-screen race clock optimized for mobile viewing. More than 20 broadcasters, including the BBC, will air the event live, while in-stadium presentation will feature a predominantly black infield, enhanced lighting, a bespoke soundtrack, and live centre-stage athlete interviews.
