World Cup 2026: American Ismail Elfath to referee England v Argentina

FIFA has announced that American referee Ismail Elfath, 44, will officiate the World Cup 2026 semi-final between England and Argentina. Elfath previously refereed group stage matches involving Japan, the Netherlands, Uruguay, and Spain, as well as Norway's last-16 victory over Brazil. During the tournament he has issued six yellow cards and one red card, shown to Uruguay midfielder Agustin Canobbio for a high challenge.
