World Cup 2026: Tonga preview, key players and squad

Tonga have been drawn in Pool C of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup, where they will face both England and Samoa — sides that have recently beaten them 3-0 in a 2023 Test series and 34-6 in October last year respectively. Their key players include Addin Fonua-Blake, Jason Taumalolo (who has passed 300 NRL games), and Isaiya Katoa, all under coach Kristian Woolf, who has led the side since 2014. Despite a difficult recent run of results, Tonga are considered capable of causing an upset, particularly in their opening match against England in Perth.
