World Cup host city Vancouver risks losing its MLS club Whitecaps
Major League Soccer announced it 'will evaluate all options' for the Vancouver Whitecaps, including relocating the club to another city. The team, co-owned by former NBA star Steve Nash, has been on sale for 16 months, with the club stating that talks with more than 100 parties have failed to produce a viable offer to keep it in Vancouver. The uncertainty is driven by limited revenue options and a short-term lease at B.C. Place stadium, which will host seven 2026 World Cup matches, while over 27,000 fans attended a recent 'Save The Caps' protest match.
