World Track Cycling Championships: Gillespie claims scratch silver for Ireland

Ireland's Lara Gillespie won silver in the women's scratch race on the opening night of the World Track Cycling Championships in Shanghai, finishing second to the Netherlands' Lorena Wiebes in a sprint finish. Gillespie, from Wicklow, narrowly missed out on gold despite a strong performance. She previously made history by becoming Ireland's first ever female track world champion last year, winning gold in the elimination race.
