Wout van Aert misses Tour de France due to elbow injury
Wout van Aert will not participate in the upcoming Tour de France after failing to recover sufficiently from an elbow injury. The Belgian rider originally sustained the injury in a training crash before the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, where an infection subsequently developed in the wound, forcing him to abandon that race and requiring a hospital visit this week for wound cleaning and overnight observation. Team Visma | Lease a Bike confirmed on June 17 that, following consultation between Van Aert, medical staff, and performance coaches, full recovery has been prioritised over his participation in the Tour de France.
