WSL: Arsenal edge Tottenham, Russo scores penalty

Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the Women's Super League north London derby on October 24, 2026, coming from behind to claim their first WSL win since the opening day of the season. Alessia Russo converted a 56th-minute penalty, awarded after a clearance struck substitute Ella Morris's arm, to complete the comeback following Georgia Stanway's equalizer. The defeat ended Spurs' run of 31 league matches without losing when scoring first, a streak dating back to March 2023, while Arsenal's win relieved pressure on head coach Renee Slegers.
