WTA confirms 'major milestone' with equal prize money at combined events

The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has announced that all combined 1000 events — the highest level of competition outside of the Grand Slams — will award equal prize money to men and women from 2027. Events at Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing already offered equal pay alongside the four Grand Slams, but the Italian Open, Canadian Open, and Cincinnati Open will now also comply. The WTA describes the achievement as a 'major milestone' in its long-standing push for prize money parity.
