Wuhan Open final: Sonay Kartal misses out on WTA 1,000 title, losing to Maja Chwalinska

Britain's Sonay Kartal, 24, lost the Wuhan Open WTA 1,000 final to French Open runner-up Maja Chwalinska, missing out on the biggest title of her career. Kartal had been in strong contention despite it being only her third event back following a six-month absence due to a back injury. Despite the defeat, Kartal is set to become British number one when the WTA rankings are updated on Monday.
