Yamashita takes LPGA event in playoff

Miyu Yamashita of Japan won the Meijer LPGA Classic in Belmont, Michigan, after defeating Lottie Woad in a playoff on Sunday. Yamashita shot an 8-under 64 to finish at 17-under 271, advancing to the playoff when Woad's 3-foot par putt lipped out on the 18th hole, then clinching the win with a 3-footer of her own on the first extra hole. It was Yamashita's third LPGA Tour victory, following the Maybank Championship and the Women's British Open last year, when she was also named LPGA rookie of the year.
