Yan and Russell reign supreme with second-best marks in history in Xiamen

At the Diamond League meet in Xiamen on May 23, 2026, China's Yan Ziyi threw 71.74m in the javelin — an Asian record and the second-best mark in history, behind only Barbora Špotáková's 2008 world record of 72.28m — making her just the sixth athlete ever to surpass 70 metres. USA's Masai Russell also produced the second-best performance in history in the 100m hurdles, clocking 12.14 seconds.
