Yankees get 2 prospects, trade Doval to Pirates

The New York Yankees traded right-handed reliever Camilo Doval and cash considerations to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for two minor league prospects: catcher Omar Alfonzo (Pittsburgh's No. 17 prospect, age 22) and outfielder Luis Cruz. Doval, a 2023 NL All-Star with the Giants, had struggled in New York, posting a 4.82 ERA in 22 appearances last season and a 4.54 ERA in 39⅔ innings this year, leading to a demotion to mop-up duty. Alfonzo was hitting .239/.338/.420 in 60 games at Double-A Altoona at the time of the deal.
