Yankees swept out of the AL Division Series by the Rays, extending their title drought to 17 years

The New York Yankees were swept out of the AL Division Series by the Tampa Bay Rays, extending their World Series title drought to 17 years. Starter Max Fried surrendered two home runs, and Anthony Volpe had a potential tying homer in the sixth inning overturned to a double due to fan interference on video review. The Yankees failed to advance a runner past second base after that ruling, ending their season on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
