Yanks to call up No. 3 prospect Rodríguez for debut on Wednesday
The New York Yankees will call up 22-year-old pitching prospect Elmer Rodríguez for his Major League debut on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, as confirmed by manager Aaron Boone. Rodríguez, the Yankees' No. 3 prospect and No. 72 overall in baseball per MLB Pipeline, posted a 1.27 ERA in four Triple-A starts and takes the rotation spot vacated by Luis Gil, who was optioned after a rough outing against the Astros. The Yankees will also recall infielder Max Schuemann from Triple-A, with the corresponding move tied to Giancarlo Stanton being placed on the injured list with a right calf strain.
