'You never miss that buzz' - Grand National-winning jockey becomes a Leger legend

Niall 'Slippers' Madden, the jockey who won the Grand National in 2006 aboard Numbersixvalverde, claimed victory in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster on his second attempt, riding Brian Ellison-trained Tolstoy to beat Jimmy McCarthy on Feel The Need. The 40-year-old, who now works as clerk of the course at four Irish tracks including Wexford and Dundalk, had not competed in a professional or charity race for five years before his return to the event last year. Madden rode out for trainer Johnny Murtagh in preparation and described the thrill of returning to competitive racing.
