Álvarez apologizes to Atlético fans over bid to join Barca

Julián Álvarez apologized to Atlético Madrid fans on Saturday for attempting to force a move to Barcelona during the World Cup, calling his handling of the situation a mistake. The Argentina forward scored a crucial 48th-minute goal to give Atlético a 1-0 LaLiga win over Deportivo A Coruña, ending a six-month goal drought. The victory left Atlético just two points behind leaders Barcelona ahead of Sunday's El Clásico at Camp Nou.
